Blue is the cheapest color to get into in CS2. You can put together six blue guns for less than a single knife in any other palette, and there are more accurate color matches among guns than you'd think. Blue only gets expensive on the knife and gloves, and there's a trap there too — names where "blue" is just a word.
We break down three ready-made loadouts and explain why Doppler Sapphire and Phase 4 are blue, while Blue Steel isn't.
Where blue comes from in CS2
The blue palette has three pillars:
- Doppler Sapphire and Doppler Phase 4. Sapphire is one of the Doppler "gems": a solid, saturated blue with nothing mixed in. Phase 4 is a regular phase, blue with cyan and purple shimmers. Both only come in Factory New and Minimal Wear, so wear doesn't affect the look. Doppler prices depend heavily on the phase: regular phases cost about the same, while Sapphire is many times more expensive. Check the phase in the listing title.
- Anodized blue — Royal Blue, Blue Laminate, Blue Ply, Cobalt Disruption. These are a flat fill with no pattern: in-game they look brighter than in previews.
- Hand Wraps | Cobalt Skulls — essentially the only truly blue gloves. The other "blue" options are either purple or teal.
All blue knives by phase are collected on the blue knives page.
Loadout under $35
About $30 for six guns — and almost all of them are very accurate color matches:
- AK-47 | Blue Laminate — $11.4. Blue laminated wood; the bluest AK in the game, and cheap too.
- M4A1-S | Nightmare — $6.8. Dark blue with black, nicely tones down the brightness of the other guns.
- AWP | Capillary — $0.5. Blue "capillaries" on a dark base — a better color match than many expensive AWPs.
- Desert Eagle | Blue Ply — $0.4.
- USP-S | Royal Blue — $6.4. Pure royal blue, the reference point for the whole loadout.
- Glock-18 | Sacrifice — $0.4.
Why this loadout works: on five of the six guns, blue is the main color, not a detail. In first person you see the body's fill, so even the cheap Blue Ply and Royal Blue put more blue on screen than plenty of skins costing tens of dollars with blue inserts. Wear barely matters here either: in Field-Tested, anodized paint mostly wears off at the edges.
Loadout under $330
About $310. We swap two guns and add gloves:
- M4A4 | X-Ray — $70.8. A blue "X-ray" with visible internals — a noticeable upgrade over the Nightmare.
- Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption — $65.4. Deep blue metallic, one of the most accurate skins in the palette.
- Hand Wraps | Cobalt Skulls — $155. Blue wraps with skulls that show up in every animation.
- The AK Blue Laminate, AWP Capillary, USP Royal Blue and Glock Sacrifice stay.
Want a knife instead of gloves? Cheaper than Cobalt Skulls is the Shadow Daggers | Doppler (Phase 4): from $102. The most affordable blue Doppler, even if it's on an unpopular model. Sapphire on the same daggers is a "gem" and costs many times more than a regular phase. Among gloves, only Moto Gloves | Finish Line ($57.6) are cheaper than Cobalt Skulls, but they lean purple and only fit if your loadout has the Glock Sacrifice or AK Baroque Purple.
Knife and gloves loadout under $850
About $840. We add a knife to the mid-range guns and swap the Glock for the most "cosmic" blue pistol:
- Bayonet | Doppler (Phase 4) — from $310. Phase 4 is blue with shimmers; the Bayonet's blade is large, so the color reads perfectly.
- Hand Wraps | Cobalt Skulls — they stay.
- Glock-18 | Twilight Galaxy — $205. A sparkly blue galaxy that rhymes nicely with the Doppler's shimmer.
An alternative at the same price is the Falchion Knife | Doppler (Phase 4), from $256.

What to avoid
- Blue Steel. Despite the name, it's grey blued steel: Karambit | Blue Steel ($671) and Bowie Knife | Blue Steel look like metal in-game, not blue. They belong in a black and white loadout.
- Gut Knife | Doppler (Sapphire). Yes, it's Sapphire, but the Gut's blade is small and the model is dark — in our database it's a noticeably worse match than Shadow Daggers or a Bayonet with the same finish.
- Sport Gloves | Pandora's Box. Very expensive ($2,936) and purple-blue on top of that: in a blue loadout they pull the palette toward purple.
- Specialist Gloves | Fade, Sport Gloves | Superconductor, Specialist Gloves | Lt. Commander. They have blue elements, but the main color is something else — a weak match for a blue loadout.
- AK-47 | Vulcan and AK-47 | Point Disarray. Blue in previews, but in hand they're light blue with white and a lot of black. They clash with Royal Blue.
- M4A4 | Poseidon — iconic, but its Field-Tested price ($1,359) is way out of proportion to how "blue" it actually is.
If you want to go bigger
- Karambit | Doppler (Sapphire) — gem phase — several times pricier than regular phases, check the marketplace. The game's ultimate blue knife.
- M9 Bayonet | Doppler (Sapphire) — gem phase — several times pricier than regular phases, check the marketplace.
- M4A1-S | Blue Phosphor — from $460. Glowing blue for the M4A1-S, only available in good wear.
- AWP | Lightning Strike — from $439. An old classic: purple-blue lightning.
The key tip for blue: save on the guns and invest in the knife. Blue guns are nearly free and accurate, and the difference between inventories only shows in the knife. All options are on the blue CS2 skins and blue gloves pages, and loadouts in other colors are in the CS2 skin sets by color section.
